About Gravitics
At Gravitics, we're not exploring space—we're building it. We're creating the infrastructure for a thriving space economy, enabling humanity to flourish beyond Earth. Our vision is bold, but we're not just dreamers; we're doers. We design and manufacture the large-scale structures that power human and robotic activity in Earth orbit and beyond. If you're ready to lay the foundations for a new era in space, embrace a culture of relentless learning and innovation, and contribute to a future where humanity's reach extends farther, Gravitics is the place for you. Let's build the future, together.
About the Role
To build our space systems, we need rockstars of all experience levels who can directly work the full product lifecycle of building several challenging assemblies, including pressurized structures, launch adapters, mechanisms, tooling, and more. Responsibilities:
· Challenge the status quo.
· Write and implement mechanical assembly and test processes.
· Partner with design engineering and manufacturing teams through vehicle development to create quality plans for hardware, including identification of key characteristics, prototype testing for functionality and manufacturability, defining first article inspection requirements, and consideration of past failures and lessons learned.
· Create and maintain build schedules.
· Collaborate with the mechanical design team to incorporate design for manufacturability.
· Participate in design reviews internally and with suppliers and customers.
· Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication, and assembly).
· Confirm operational safety precautions are considered and identified per area planning standards.
· Coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing of systems to meet hardware deadlines.
· Conduct regular build quality reviews to ensure that design intent is achieved and well-communicated.
· Identify automation opportunities and establish requirements as well as evaluating return on investment for each.
· Support component level testing such as proof, leak, and functional checkouts.
About You
You’re a successful candidate if you are a giver, not a taker. You have an ability to make things happen. You are exceptional at several things, yet willing to take on efforts in areas of weakness.
Required Attributes
· Demonstrated past ownership of complex projects.
· 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment via professional work experience, project/research-based student experience, or a combination of both.
· Experience writing work instructions and procedures for complex mechanical assemblies.
· Familiarity with CAD/PLM packages such as NX/Teamcenter.
· Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
Bonus Points for
· A proven history of successful hardware in launch vehicles or space systems.
· Mechanical component and/or tooling design and analysis experience.
· Ability to develop and maintain high performing suppliers and contract manufacturers.
· Demonstrated experience implementing automation into production processes.
· Experience with material selection and their properties in a space environments.
· Knowledge of physical and mechanical properties as well as evaluation methods (tensile strength, hardness, fatigue, fracture toughness, creep, stress rupture, SEM, non-destructive inspection, spectroscopy).
· Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods, e.g., design of experiments, Six Sigma, etc.
· Detailed knowledge of one or more of the following production processes: forging, casting, forming, coating, plating, heat treating, fusion welding, friction stir welding, EB welding, MIG/TIG welding, laser welding, and additive manufacturing.
· Having a design/build portfolio.
Compensation and Benefits
Your level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the considerations of job-related knowledge and skills, education, and direct experience.
Salary is just one component of the total employee package, which also includes company equity at an exciting time of company growth, as well as comprehensive medical, 401(k) retirement plan, a generous PTO policy, employee discounts, and more.
