Technical Sales Engineer
IT, Sales & Business Development
San Mateo, CA, USA
Company Mission
BRELYON is a series A startup (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/brelyon) introducing the first-ever headset-free virtual displays to replace multi-monitors in high bandwidth applications like gaming and trading. (See video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkP4JF5X6Fc)
Our technology uses novel physics along with computational display techniques to create depth and panorama, creating an IMAX-like experience in a 32” monitor form factor. We are enhancing the human-computer experience with a product design that jointly considers light and the visual experience of displays. Therefore, we offer rendering software to enhance immersion in enterprise, automotive, and entertainment applications.
We are looking for a self-leading, passionate, yet highly disciplined individual to join this journey with us. We expect you to thrive in a fast-paced environment with the “can-do” mindset and delivery and magnetism that helps us build a team around you and with you. Your superpower should generate reliable mechanical solutions that take products through phases from CAD to prototype, to production. Our optical engineers, industrial designers and prototypes will be your teammates.
This role is on site in our Silicon Valley office and part of our R&D team and will report directly to the Associate Director of Product.
The Role
We are seeking an energetic, technically minded, and relentless Technical Sales Engineer to join our team full-time on-site in San Mateo, CA. In this high-velocity role, you will drive top-of-funnel growth through aggressive outbound email campaigns, manage active client accounts, and lead technical pre-sales or account management efforts.
You will bridge the gap between our cutting-edge optical hardware/software and enterprise clients—running multi-channel outreach, representing Brelyon at major industry conferences, conducting live product demonstrations, and managing the end-to-end follow-up cycle to close program integration deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound Campaign Execution & Prospecting: Build, execute, and track high-volume email and multi-channel outreach campaigns using CRM and lead-generation tools to continuously populate the sales pipeline across enterprise, and industrial sectors.
- Conference & Event Leadership: Actively participate in, set up, and present at industry trade shows, expos, and technical conferences. Lead on-site demo experiences for executive decision-makers and technical teams.
- Active Follow-Up & Account Management: Rigorously execute post-conference and post-demo follow-ups to transition event leads into active trials, pilot programs, and long-term accounts. Drive account strategy, client relationship management, and ongoing expansion opportunities.
- Technical Product Demonstrations & Trials: Deliver compelling live hardware and software demonstrations for prospective clients. Manage pilot evaluations, coordinate proof-of-concept (PoC) criteria, and guide clients through product discovery.
- Proposal & Deal Development: Translate client technical requirements into formal proposals, statements of work (SOWs), quotations, and pitch presentations.
- Feedback Loop & Reporting: Act as the primary technical liaison between clients and internal engineering/product teams. Synthesize customer feedback into product insights and regularly report sales performance, email campaign metrics, and pipeline status to the executive leadership team.
Requirements
- Work Structure: Ability and desire to work 100% full-time on-site at our San Mateo headquarters, along with willingness to travel for conferences, trade shows, and customer visits.
- Education / Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical discipline (e.g., Optical, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering) OR equivalent technical sales experience with a track record in deep-tech, hardware, or XR markets.
- Security & Authorization: Must hold valid U.S. work authorization and be eligible to work on defense-related (DoD) programs and contracts.
- Outreach & Pipeline Skills: High proficiency with modern CRM platforms, lead-generation software, email sequencing tools, and multi-channel prospecting strategies.
- Technical Pre-Sales & Account Management: Strong track record in solution selling, contract negotiation, account management, and translating complex hardware/software capabilities into clear business value.
- Communication & Presentation: Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills—with strong active listening and pitch presentation abilities.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background or familiarity with optical architectures, display hardware, light-field technology, or spatial computing / XR workflows.
- Experience in defense simulation, command-and-control (NOC/SOC), automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, or industrial data visualization solutions.
- Prior experience navigating DoD procurement processes, SBIR/STTR programs, or prime contractor partnerships.
- Multi-lingual capability.
